At kahit hindi ka mayaman according to this world’s definition of rich, truth is mayaman ka na.
I bumped into a post that jokingly motivates readers to get up because we’re not yet rich.
While its purpose is just for fun, I had second thoughts about it.
Imagine the world if we’re all rich. Everyone traveling in jets, cars driven by chauffeurs, can afford private nurses and doctors. And even those chauffers, nurses and doctors are as equally rich as we are!
Hindi lahat talaga gusto yumaman because physical wealth is not everyone’s cup of tea.
According to BPI survey before, Filipinos’ top priority is owning a house. Kapag may bahay ka ng sarili, that is being wealthy to you.
Kapag may sarili ka ng pamilya at anak, that is wealth to you.
Kapag nakapagtravel ka sa iba’t-ibang bansa at andaming tatak ng passport mo, that is wealth to you.
Kapag napromote ka sa work at naincreasan ng sahod, that is wealth to you.
Kapag may sarili kang business, hawak mo oras mo as freelancer, kapag masaya ka being single at childless, kapag nakakakain ka nang 3 beses sa isang araw at nakakapag-milk tea o samgyup from time to time, that is wealth to you.
Not saying I discourage people from reaching big dreams. In fact, the world produces the likes of Elon Musk, Steve Jobs, Warren Buffett because the world needs ultra rich people with ultra big responsibilities.
Wealth is personalised by us. We define it according to our own terms. And it goes beyond physical wealth. It can be health, time, family, friendships, career, interest, etc.
At kahit nagpopost ako ng mga naipundar ko o trading gains, these things don’t make me rich. Experience does. The journey does. What has become of me does make me rich.
It is the wealth of experience.
You have talents. You have loving parents and family. You have good friends. You have a roof above your head. You have food in the fridge. You have big faith in God. You are rich.
Bumangon ka araw-araw hindi para magpayaman according sa definition ng iba.
Bumangon ka para magpayaman according to your own definition of wealth.
